GPT-Video vs Crayo: one meter for long-video clips, four for faceless videos

Crayo is a toolbox for faceless videos with four separate meters, while GPT-Video is a clip editor with one meter that counts the minutes of source you upload.

GPT-Video is the better fit when the job is cutting a long recording into captioned vertical clips. It centers each clip on the speaker's face, shows why every clip was picked, and takes edits as plain sentences to Editor Assistant. Crayo costs less to start, has a REST API on any paid plan, and builds Reddit, fake text and split-screen videos as core tools.

The short answer

Crayo and GPT-Video overlap on one job, which is cutting a long video into captioned vertical clips. For that job GPT-Video does three things Crayo's public pages do not confirm. It centers the picture on the speaker's face, it names the opening hook and the sentence behind each pick, and it lets you change a clip by describing the change. It also counts one thing, the minutes of source you upload, where Crayo counts four.

Crayo is the better tool for other jobs. It has a REST API on any paid plan, a lower entry price and a toolkit built around faceless videos. The rest of this page says where each side is ahead, and what a month costs on both.

Where GPT-Video is stronger

The reframe follows the face. GPT-Video reframes the picture on the speaker's face when it makes the 9:16 crop. Crayo describes its stream clips as a facecam layout, front and center, with auto captions and a 9:16 crop. Automatic face tracking is not confirmed on its public pages. For a podcast or an interview, where the speaker moves, that gap can decide whether you fix the framing by hand. See auto reframe.

You see why a clip was picked. GPT-Video transcribes the source, scores every moment, and writes out the opening hook and the sentence that earned the clip its rank. You can disagree with a pick in a few seconds, because the reason is written next to it.

Editing is a chat. You tell Editor Assistant what you want, such as shorter pauses at the start or captions moved off the buttons, and it applies that change to the clip on screen. Every change can be undone. More on vibe editing.

One meter instead of four. On GPT-Video a credit is one minute of source at Standard quality. Draft costs half of that and Maximum costs two and a half times. Crayo gives you workflow credits, export minutes, voiceover minutes and AI images as separate allowances, so a plan can run out on one while the others have room. Our credits also belong to the billing month that granted them, so neither side wins on rollover.

Where Crayo is stronger

  • API. Every account can create a key, and it works on any paid plan. Endpoints cover uploads, generation, transcripts, projects, exports and webhooks. AutoClip through the API takes sources of 1 to 3 hours, with up to 3 jobs at once.
  • Entry price. Hobby is $160 for a year. Starter on GPT-Video is $19 a month, which is $190 a year when you pay for 10 months and get 12. The gap is $30 a year at the bottom of the range.
  • Faceless formats. Reddit stories, fake texts and split-screen gameplay are its main tools, with 100+ voices and word-by-word subtitles applied automatically.
  • Wider toolkit. AI images, a voice changer, face swap, a speech enhancer, a subtitle remover and a YouTube downloader come in the same subscription.
  • View tracking. It follows views on the social accounts you connect.

GPT-Video does not publish or schedule, does not import from a link. Crayo's public pages do not describe scheduling either.

What a real month costs

Take a clipper who records 10 hours of podcast a month. That is 600 minutes of source, so 600 credits at Standard on GPT-Video. Starter holds 250, so we price it on Creator at $49 a month with 800 credits, which is about $0.061 a minute. Starter with one $25 top-up would also hold it, at $44 for 750 credits, but without Creator's 4K export. Paid for 10 months out of 12, Creator is $490 a year, or $40.83 a month.

On the Crayo side the closest plan is Clipper at $327 a year, which is $27.25 a month. That is $163 a year less than Creator. The month-to-month price is not printed on its pricing page, so this compares yearly totals only.

Whether Clipper holds the same 10 hours is not something we can state. Its pricing page does not meter the source by length. It gives 1,000 workflow credits, 10 hours of export and 120 voiceover minutes, and it does not say how an AutoClip run uses those credits. Test one real episode before you rely on the plan.

A faceless channel is different. Forty one-minute story videos a month need forty voiceover minutes. Hobby includes 30, so that channel needs Clipper at $27 a month billed yearly. Crayo is priced for this work and we make no cost claim against it here.

What you give up by moving

You give up the 100+ voices, the downloader and the view tracker. You also stop pasting links, because GPT-Video takes the video file itself, and you post the exported file yourself.

You get face-centered reframing, reasons attached to each pick, one credit pool and a chat that edits the clip on screen. If that is the work you do, sign up and confirm your email to claim free access, if places remain. It holds 50 credits for 14 days and asks for no card. Run one long recording through it and judge the result on your own footage. The plans are on the price list.

The verdict

Which one to pay for

Choose Crayo if

  • You need a REST API on any paid plan. Crayo has one with webhooks. GPT-Video has one too, with webhooks, but only on Creator and Studio plans.
  • You want the lowest entry price. Hobby is $160 a year, about $13 a month.
  • Faceless formats are your main work and you want 100+ AI voices, a fake text template generator and split-screen stories in one place.
  • You also want AI images, a voice changer, face swap or a YouTube downloader inside the same subscription.

Choose GPT-Video if

  • You cut podcasts, interviews or streams, and you want each clip reframed on the speaker's face.
  • You want to read why a clip was picked before you spend time on it.
  • You like to change a clip by describing the change, with every change undoable.
  • You prefer one credit pool counted in minutes of source over four separate meters.

Prices and features on this page were read from each product's own public pages on 4 October 2026. Prices move; if something is out of date, it is a mistake and not a tactic.

Questions

Is GPT-Video a good Crayo alternative?

It is a good alternative if you mostly turn long recordings into captioned vertical clips. It is a weaker one if you build faceless story videos every day or want a REST API on a cheaper plan, which is where Crayo is built to work.

How does GPT-Video charge compared with Crayo?

One credit is one minute of uploaded source at Standard quality, drawn from a single monthly pool. Crayo splits use across workflow credits, export minutes, voiceover minutes and AI images, so one meter can run out while the others still have room.

Can GPT-Video make Reddit story, fake text and split-screen videos like Crayo?

Yes, each has its own feature page on GPT-Video. Crayo treats them as its core tools and lists 100+ AI voices, while our voiceovers are in English and Italian. If those formats are your whole channel, compare the voices before you decide.

Does GPT-Video have an API like Crayo?

Yes. GPT-Video has a webhooks and an API for Creator and Studio accounts, described at [Developers](/developers). There is also an MCP connector, so an assistant in Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor can find and export clips through eight tools. Crayo also has REST calls and webhooks, and it lets you use them on any paid plan.

Can I try GPT-Video before paying?

Yes. After you confirm your email, a new account gets free access: 50 credits, roughly 50 minutes of source at Standard, valid for 14 days and with no card. Places are limited. There is no permanent free plan, and Starter at $19 a month is the first paid one. Crayo's pricing page lists three paid plans and no free plan.
