Best Crayo alternatives for faceless video

For a channel with no face on camera, the question is how much of the format is already built, a chat or a Reddit layout, and how much you must describe to a generator.

GPT-Video, which is ours, has a page for fake text chats, Reddit stories and split screen, with AI voices in English and Italian, from $19 a month. Of the six others, only Crayo shows all three formats on its pages, and it adds a public API. Zebracat shows two. Revid, AutoShorts, invideo and Pictory lean on prompts, scripts or links.

The short answer

You are probably here because you make faceless videos and Crayo is the tool you know. This page ranks seven products for that job, Crayo included, and Crayo has its own section because people search for it by name. GPT-Video is ours, so it sits first and is marked as ours. Beside each of the others we put one thing it handles better than we do. All prices come from the tools' own pages, opened on 2026-10-04.

The order follows one rule. A faceless channel can start from a ready-made format, such as a chat thread, a Reddit post read aloud over gameplay, or two clips stacked in one frame, or it can start from a prompt and let a generator decide what the video looks like. We put the tools that build those formats first and the prompt generators last. After GPT-Video the order is Crayo, Zebracat, Revid, AutoShorts, invideo and Pictory. Where two tools build the same number of formats, the one that asks less of you comes later.

1. GPT-Video

We make GPT-Video. Fake text chats, Reddit stories and split-screen videos each have their own page and their own maker: fake text video, Reddit story video and split screen video. Beyond those, it can turn a long recording into captioned vertical clips. Revisions go through the Editor Assistant in plain words, and every revision it makes is undoable. A typical routine is described under faceless channels.

The first paid plan is Starter, which costs $19 a month and holds 250 credits. At Standard quality each credit covers one uploaded minute, which puts a minute near $0.076 ($19 divided by 250). A split-screen video is billed on its main clip alone, so the gameplay footage underneath adds no credits. Paying yearly covers 10 months for a 12-month term, so Starter becomes $190 a year.

Four limits matter for this job. AI voices come in English and Italian only. There is no permanent free plan, only a one-time start once your email is confirmed, worth 50 credits and spendable over 14 days without a card. Posting is yours to do on every plan. And you cannot import a video from a link, so you upload the file. For code access you get a REST API which Studio and Creator accounts can use and the MCP connector.

2. Crayo

Crayo gave this page its name. It suits creators who run several faceless formats every week and want everything inside one subscription: Reddit story videos, fake text message videos, split-screen gameplay stories, voiceovers and an AutoClip tool for long videos. It also has a public REST API with webhooks that any paid plan can use. Our head-to-head is at GPT-Video vs Crayo.

The smallest plan, Hobby, is billed at $160 a year and displayed as about $13 a month. Each month it holds 30 voiceover minutes, 2 hours of export and 250 workflow credits. No month-to-month price is printed. Against our $190 a year for Starter, Hobby is $30 cheaper over twelve months. The pricing page lists no trial and says refunds are not offered.

The limit is the meter. Crayo keeps four separate allowances: AI images, voiceover minutes, export minutes and workflow credits. A narrated one-minute story uses a voiceover minute, so Hobby's 30 minutes of voice stop you at about 30 such videos while credits remain. Credits do not roll over to the next cycle.

3. Zebracat

Zebracat suits marketers and creators who want a finished video from a script, link or audio file and may add avatars or voice clones later. For faceless formats it offers a Reddit story generator that puts a story over Subway Surfers or Minecraft parkour footage in a 9:16 split-screen layout, with an AI voice and word-level captions. It schedules posts, and developers get a REST API with webhooks and an MCP route into Claude, Cursor or OpenAI agents.

Cat Mode, the first paid plan, is $39 a month, or $23 a month billed yearly. It allows 15 videos and 350 generative AI credits a month, with videos up to 2 minutes. Spread over 15 videos, $39 is $2.60 a video ($39 divided by 15). Its no-cost plan caps you at 5 videos in total, 720p, 30 seconds apiece, with no card needed. A 7-day money-back guarantee is advertised.

The limit is that Zebracat generates new videos rather than cutting a long one, and the pages read describe no fake text chat tool. The pricing page also contradicts itself: the plan cards say $39 and $99, the FAQ says $29 and $79. We used the cards.

4. Revid

Revid suits creators who want to type or paste an idea and get a short video back, with posting handled in the same product. It turns a prompt, script, link or Reddit post into an editable video with voiceover and captions, and its Reddit tool adds a Minecraft parkour background. Posting and scheduling to TikTok, Instagram and YouTube are built in, and its Auto-Mode workers keep producing and posting on a repeating plan. Voiceovers cover 70+ languages. API, MCP server and CLI are listed on the paid plans.

The entry price is $39 a month. The Growth card shows 2,000 AI credits a month, while the Hobby card at the same price shows no credit amount, so what Hobby holds is unclear. Its FAQ puts a 30-second video with moving images and a voiceover at roughly 40 to 80 credits each. That makes 25 to 50 videos from the 2,000 on Growth, or $0.78 to $1.56 a video ($39 divided by 50, and by 25). New accounts get credits with no card.

The limit is cost per video, which moves with the visuals you pick, and unused plan credits do not carry over. The pages read describe gameplay only as a background, so there is no split-screen layout tool or fake text chat shown.

5. AutoShorts

AutoShorts suits someone who wants the channel to run without them. You set up a Series, which is a niche or your own prompt plus a schedule, and it writes, voices, captions and posts new videos to TikTok, YouTube and Instagram by itself. Reddit-style stories are one of the starting niches, videos can come out in 30 languages, and you can preview and edit the script, title and music before a video posts. AutoShorts publishes little detail, so this entry rests on its home page and one comparison page it wrote itself.

Starter is $19 a month for one Series that posts 3 times a week, with 27 motion credits. Three posts a week is 13 videos a month (3 times 52 weeks, divided by 12 months), so each video costs about $1.46 ($19 divided by 13). Daily is $39 and Hardcore is $69.

The limits are firm. Videos run up to 90 seconds, each plan has one Series, so one topic at a time, and there is no refund. A no-cost plan is listed but paused. The pages read do not describe clipping a long video, split screen or fake text chats.

6. invideo

invideo is for anyone who would prompt for footage first and polish it by hand afterwards. It generates video and images with models such as Seedance, Sora and Veo, has a multitrack timeline editor with multiplayer editing, offers voice generation, and its remote MCP server lets Codex, Claude Code or Cursor edit a timeline. Each plan includes team seats.

Pricing was served in EUR, so it is written here without a dollar sign. Starter is 20 EUR a month per seat for 400 credits, and the same price on monthly and annual billing. Plus is 60 EUR month to month or 36 EUR on annual billing, with 2,000 credits. The no-cost plan has a limited credit quota that resets weekly, and a watermark-free download needs a paid plan.

The limit is fit. The pages read describe generating and editing but do not describe cutting a long video into clips, and they do not describe fake text chats, Reddit stories or split screen, so none is claimed here. Starter has no Seedance access. Credits reset each cycle, and invideo says it may change credit costs without notice.

7. Pictory

Pictory suits marketers, teachers and teams who turn scripts, articles, slides or URLs into videos with licensed stock footage and AI voices. It can also edit a recording by text, with automatic captions and highlights, and exports in 9:16, landscape and square. An API plan and an MCP server exist, and a 14-day trial opens every premium feature.

Starter is $29 a month, or $25 a month billed yearly, with 200 video minutes each month. That is about $0.145 a minute ($29 divided by 200), though the minutes are exported video, not source video, so the figure is not the same unit as ours. It includes 720 minutes a year of ElevenLabs voices in 29 languages.

Of all the tools here, it is the weakest fit for a faceless channel. The pages read do not describe face-tracking reframe, split screen, fake text chats or Reddit stories. Monthly minutes reset on the first of the month and do not roll over, and cancelling deletes your projects from the platform, so download them first. The API is sold as its own plan, and Pictory hands out the MCP credentials by email on request.

Every price above is from 2026-10-04 and comes from the tool's own pages. Zebracat, invideo and Revid give a no-cost way in, AutoShorts lists a no-cost plan that is paused, and Pictory has a 14-day trial. On GPT-Video a fresh sign-up starts with 50 credits, and they lapse after 14 days. Crayo offers neither a plan at no cost nor a trial.

How to choose

Pick by who has to do the work after the video exists.

  • Choose Crayo if the formats above are your whole channel, you want several formats in one subscription, or you need a REST API with webhooks. It is the only other tool here whose pages show all three formats.
  • Choose Zebracat if you want Reddit stories over parkour footage with posting, a scheduler and an API, and you can live with a 2-minute cap on the first plan.
  • Choose Revid if you would rather paste an idea or a Reddit post and receive an edited video, with posting and an API included.
  • Choose AutoShorts if you want a Series that publishes on its own, on three platforms, and you accept one topic per account.
  • Choose invideo if you want to generate footage with frontier models and finish it on a timeline, and the faceless format is yours to design.
  • Choose Pictory if your videos start from scripts, articles or slides and you want stock footage under them.
  • Choose GPT-Video if you want the chat, Reddit and split-screen formats from one place, plus the option to cut a long recording into clips, and English or Italian voices are enough. We are also the one that cannot post for you.

Several of these cost nothing to start, so make one video in the format you use most on two of them and see which result you would publish. GPT-Video can be one of the two while its 14 days of free access last, and Crayo cannot, since it lists no way in without paying. The price list has our plans, and the alternatives hub has our other comparisons.

Prices and features on this page were read from each product's own public pages on 4 October 2026. Prices move; if something is out of date, it is a mistake and not a tactic.

Questions

Which Crayo alternative builds fake text, Reddit and split-screen videos?

GPT-Video has a page for each of the three. Of the other tools here, Zebracat shows Reddit stories in a split-screen layout, Revid shows Reddit posts turned into video, and AutoShorts lists Reddit-style stories as a starting niche. None of them shows a fake text chat tool on the pages we read.

Is there a Crayo alternative with a no-cost plan?

Zebracat has one that stops after 5 short 720p videos, and invideo has one with a weekly credit reset. Revid gives new accounts credits with no card. AutoShorts lists a no-cost plan that is paused. GPT-Video has no permanent free plan, but it gives each new account 50 credits for 14 days after email confirmation, without a card, while places last.

Which alternative is cheapest to start?

On the sticker price, GPT-Video and AutoShorts are lowest at $19 a month each, and invideo Starter is 20 EUR a month per seat, which is priced in a different currency. Crayo Hobby is cheaper again at about $13 a month, but only if you pay $160 for the year. The units differ, so compare the cost per finished video too.

Which alternative has an API like Crayo's?

Revid has a REST API plus an MCP server and a CLI, Zebracat has a REST API plus MCP connectors, and Pictory sells an API plan separately. invideo has an MCP server. AutoShorts shows no public API in what we read. For developers, ours is a documented API from the Creator plan up and an MCP connector.

Does GPT-Video post my faceless videos for me?

No. Our product ends once the video file is exported, whatever the plan, and no social account is ever linked. You upload the finished video yourself or hand it to a scheduler. If you want posting automated by the same tool that makes the video, Revid, AutoShorts and Zebracat all schedule from inside the product.
