GPT-Video vs VEED: platform safe zones and a separate space for each client

VEED is a general browser editor sold per user, while GPT-Video is a clip tool with one flat price per plan and a Studio tier that keeps each client's work apart.

For agencies that cut long recordings into vertical clips for clients, GPT-Video has a safe zone checker that shows where TikTok, Reels and Shorts cover the frame, and a $199 Studio plan with a separate space for each client. VEED costs less per user, has a free plan, a public API and a wide editor.

The short answer

VEED is a broad browser editor. GPT-Video is a narrower tool for turning one long video into vertical clips, and two parts of it matter most if you deliver that work to other people.

The first is the safe zone checker. You drop in a frame and it draws the TikTok, Reels and Shorts interface over it, so you can see what the apps will cover before you export. The second is the Studio plan at $199 a month, which gives each client a separate space and sends your work to the front of the queue.

VEED is the stronger choice on entry price, on a free plan, on a public API and on the number of things the editor does. The sections below show both sides, with the cost worked out for a small agency.

Where GPT-Video is stronger

You can see the platform interface before you export. Every vertical platform puts buttons, a caption area and a profile row on top of your frame. The GPT-Video checker draws those three interfaces over a frame you supply, in your browser, with no account. It is free, like the other browser tools on the site. The clipping product itself has no permanent free plan, though a confirmed new account can clip with 50 credits during its first 14 days. VEED's pages that we read do not describe a comparable check. Use the checker to find where the apps cover the frame, then ask Editor Assistant to move the captions clear of those areas. This helps most with a client who has already complained about a caption hidden under a button.

Each client gets a space. The Studio plan is made for agencies. Work for one client sits apart from work for the next, so a clip, a setting or a pass cannot end up in the wrong place. VEED sells Enterprise with centrally managed teams and data, but a separate space per client on its standard plans is not confirmed on its public pages.

One meter in minutes. GPT-Video spends one credit per minute of the video you upload, at Standard quality, half a credit in Draft and two and a half in Maximum. VEED prices its plans in AI credits and in "AI videos". Its pricing page does not give a stated allowance of source minutes for clipping, and the cost of its Clips tool was not found. With GPT-Video you can multiply the hours you record by 60 and know the credits before you start.

Chat editing. Tell Editor Assistant what to fix and the clip you are watching updates, with an undo for each edit. See vibe editing.

Face-centered reframing. GPT-Video reframes each clip on the speaker's face. VEED's Clips tool also re-centers the speaker automatically, so both tools follow the speaker. On GPT-Video it is part of the main clipping flow. See auto reframe.

Where VEED is stronger

  • Free plan. You can open the editor and export before paying. Exports on it are 720p and carry a watermark.
  • Public API. The VEED API has Node and Go SDKs. A separate Subtitles API runs on fal.ai from $0.10 per minute. GPT-Video has programmatic access which a Creator or Studio plan switches on.
  • Price per seat. Creator is $147 a year for one user, and it includes unlimited auto subtitles and no watermark.
  • Wider editor. Split screen, AI voice and translation to 50+ languages on Pro sit next to the clipper.
  • MCP for avatar video. Its MCP server generates talking-avatar video. That is a different job from finding clips.

GPT-Video does not publish or schedule. GPT-Video also offers a documented API for Creator and Studio accounts. The Clips tool on VEED is described only as a way to download, edit or share clips, so scheduling is not confirmed there either.

What a real month costs

Take an agency with four clients that records 40 hours of source a month in total. That is 2,400 minutes, so 2,400 credits at Standard. Creator on GPT-Video holds 800. Top-ups could cover the rest on a smaller plan, but only Studio gives each client a space, so we price the month on Studio at $199 with 6,000 credits. Paid for 10 months out of 12, Studio is $1,990 a year, or $165.83 a month.

On the VEED side, the plan comparison is by user, not by minutes. Studio is $465 per user per year. Four editors are $1,860 a year, which is $130 less than GPT-Video Studio. Five editors are $2,325, which is $335 more. At the bottom of the range, VEED Creator at $147 is $43 under Starter at $190 a year.

That comparison has limits. VEED's seats include a general editor, and GPT-Video's price includes the clipper and a space per client. VEED's monthly-billing prices were not read, so this uses yearly totals only. We also cannot say how many hours of long video the VEED Clips tool covers, because its credit cost is not stated. Run one real client recording through both before you commit.

If one person produces for one brand, you do not need a space per client. Creator at $490 a year, or $40.83 a month, is the plan to look at on GPT-Video, and VEED is cheaper on that axis.

What you give up by moving

You give up the free plan, the API, the per-seat entry price and the wider editor. The input is also different, since GPT-Video needs the video file uploaded and does not take a link. Posting stays with you, because the work ends at the exported file.

In return you get a checker for the platform interface, a space per client, a meter you can work out before you start, and a chat for fixing clips. If you deliver clips to clients, check one of your frames in the safe zone checker now, then look at the Studio plan and the page for clippers.

The verdict

Which one to pay for

Choose VEED if

  • You want a general editor with a free plan. Free exports are 720p with a watermark.
  • You need a public API. VEED has one with Node and Go SDKs, and a Subtitles API billed per minute.
  • A single editor seat at the lowest price matters most. Creator is $147 a year.
  • You want a split screen editor and AI voice with up to 144 hours a year on Pro, in the same tool.
  • You want an MCP server that generates talking-avatar video, which GPT-Video does not do.

Choose GPT-Video if

  • You deliver vertical clips to several clients and want each client's work in its own space.
  • You want to check where TikTok, Reels and Shorts cover the frame before you export.
  • You want a meter that counts minutes of source video, so a month's cost can be worked out in advance.
  • You want to type what to fix and have Editor Assistant fix it, with an undo for every edit.
  • You want a flat monthly price per plan, with room for a small team from Creator up, and not a price per user.

Prices and features on this page were read from each product's own public pages on 4 October 2026. Prices move; if something is out of date, it is a mistake and not a tactic.

Questions

Is GPT-Video a good VEED alternative?

It is a good one if your work is cutting long recordings into vertical clips, especially for several clients. It is a poor one if you want a general editor with avatars, dubbing and a free plan, because that is where VEED is built to work.

What does the GPT-Video safe zone checker do?

You drop in a frame and it draws the TikTok, Reels and Shorts interface on top, so you can see what stays visible. It needs no account and runs entirely in your browser. It is one of several free tools at /tools, next to a trimmer, a compressor and a subtitle burner.

How does GPT-Video price work for an agency compared with VEED?

VEED's annual prices are per user, so the total grows with the number of editors. GPT-Video Studio is $199 a month for 6,000 credits, paid as 10 months for 12 on the annual plan, and gives a separate space to each client.

Is there a way to test GPT-Video before I pay, as there is on VEED?

Yes, through free access. After a new account confirms its email it holds 50 credits for 14 days, while places last, and no card is asked for. That is a start, and there is no permanent free plan. VEED lists a free plan, so it is the place to start if you want to test a general editor at no cost.

Does GPT-Video have an API like VEED?

Yes. GPT-Video has API access on the Creator and Studio tiers, described at [Developers](/developers), and an MCP connector with eight tools that Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor can call to find and export clips. VEED also has an API with SDKs.
