# Best faceless video makers, by the channel format you run

Choose the tool by the format of your channel. GPT-Video, which is ours, has pages for Reddit stories, fake text chats and split screen, from $19 a month. Crayo shows the same three formats. Zebracat shows Reddit stories over split screen, Pictory builds narration over stock footage, and Revid, AutoShorts and invideo generate videos from prompts.

## The short answer

A faceless channel usually repeats one format for months. The tool you need is the one that already builds that format, so we sorted the field by format and not by feature count. Four formats cover most channels of this kind.

- **Reddit stories.** A narrated post with captions over background footage.
- **Fake chats.** A text message conversation that plays out on screen.
- **Narration over stock.** A script read by an AI voice over licensed stock footage.
- **Gameplay in split screen.** Story on top, a looping game clip underneath.

GPT-Video, which we make, has a page for the first, second and fourth, and its entry plan is $19 a month. Crayo shows the same three. Zebracat shows the first and the fourth. Pictory is the one built around the third. Revid, AutoShorts and invideo start from a prompt or a link. Every figure was taken from each vendor's public pages on 2026-10-04.

## How we ordered them

We asked one thing of each tool. Does it build my format natively, or through a template, so that I do not have to describe the whole video to a generator each time? We scored on what the pages we read actually show. Where a page does not mention a format, the table says so, and that is not the same as saying the tool cannot do it.

Order follows the count of the four formats shown, with our own tool first because we are the authors of this page.

## 1. GPT-Video (three of the four formats)

We build GPT-Video, which is why it sits at the top, and the entries below are there so you can test what we say here. It has a separate maker for [Reddit story videos](/features/reddit-story-video), one for [fake text message videos](/features/fake-text-video) and one for [split screen](/features/split-screen-video), plus an AI voiceover with voices in English and Italian. The same account also cuts long recordings into vertical clips, which suits a channel that mixes original footage with story formats. The [faceless channels page](/use-cases/faceless-channels) shows the workflow.

To get started you pay $19 a month for the Starter plan and receive 250 credits. Each credit covers one minute of source footage at Standard quality, so a minute costs $0.076. Draft quality uses half a credit per minute, Maximum uses two and a half. With split screen, credits follow the main video only, and the looping gameplay underneath adds none.

Before Starter, a new account can use free access once its email is confirmed. It holds 50 credits for 14 days, asks for no card and allows up to 2 exports a day, which is room to try each format. Places are limited, and nothing renews when it ends.

Three limits matter here. We do not list a prompt-to-video generator or a stock library, so a channel of narrated stock footage belongs elsewhere. Voices cover English and Italian only. And no plan stays free once the free access ends, nothing posts for you, and videos cannot be imported from a link. Programmatic access goes through an MCP connector.

## 2. Crayo (three of the four formats)

Crayo is the tool whose pages cover our own three formats most completely. Reddit story, fake text and split-screen gameplay stories are built-in tools, with 100+ AI voices and word-by-word subtitles applied automatically. It adds AI images, a voice changer, a subtitle remover and a view tracker for connected accounts. A public REST API works on any paid plan.

Hobby is $13 a month when billed yearly, which is $160 a year, and the page does not print a month-to-month price. Each month it gives 250 workflow credits along with two export hours and half an hour of voiceover. One credit pays for one generated video, so $13 divided by 250 is $0.052 a video.

The limit is the four separate meters. Credits, export hours, voiceover minutes and images each run out alone. Two hours of export spread over 250 videos allows 0.48 minutes each, about 29 seconds, so longer videos will hit the export cap before the credits. Credits do not roll over and the FAQ states that refunds are not offered.

## 3. Zebracat (two of the four formats)

Zebracat suits a channel built on Reddit stories over game footage. Its generator places the story in a 9:16 split-screen layout over Subway Surfers or Minecraft parkour, with an AI voice and word-level captions. Beyond that format it turns text, scripts, blog links or audio into videos, and it schedules and posts to social channels. Programmatic users can call a REST API that sends webhooks, or connect an MCP server, while a no-card account can render 5 short videos at 720p.

The first paid tier, Cat Mode, costs $39 monthly and drops to $23 monthly with yearly billing. That buys 15 videos a month, each capped at two minutes, plus a pool of 350 generative credits. Dividing $39 by 15 gives $2.60 a video.

The limit is volume. Fifteen videos a month is thin for a channel that posts daily, and the next plan, Super Cat at $99, is where the count rises to 40. We did not find a fake text chat format. Credits reset monthly and do not roll over.

## 4. Revid (Reddit stories and prompt-led video)

Revid starts from a prompt, a pasted script, a web link or a Reddit post and returns an editable video with voiceover and captions. Its Reddit post tool adds a Minecraft parkour background, and voiceovers cover 70+ languages. It publishes and schedules to TikTok, Instagram and YouTube, and Auto-Mode workers can keep creating and posting on a repeating plan. Its paid tiers also carry a command-line tool next to the API and the MCP server.

Getting in costs $39 monthly, going by its pricing page. The Hobby card shows no credit amount, so the figures here use Growth, also $39, with 2,000 credits. Its FAQ puts one half-minute video, with animated visuals and a voice track, at roughly 40 to 80 credits. That is 2,000 divided by 80, or 25 videos, up to 2,000 divided by 40, or 50. At $39, a 30-second video costs between $0.78 (39 divided by 50) and $1.56 (39 divided by 25).

The limit is variable cost, since the visuals you choose change the credit bill, and an unused balance disappears at renewal. For our formats, gameplay appears only as a backdrop to the narration, and neither a split-screen layout tool nor a fake chat format showed up in what we read.

## 5. AutoShorts (a Series that posts for you)

AutoShorts is for someone who wants to choose a niche once and let the channel run. The unit of work is a Series, meaning a niche or your own prompt together with a posting schedule. From there the service writes every script, adds the voice and captions, and publishes to TikTok, YouTube and Instagram. A story-from-Reddit niche is among the ready-made starting points, output is available in 30 languages, and you can edit the script and background music of an upcoming video before it posts.

Starter is $19 a month and posts 3 times a week. Three posts a week over 52 weeks is 156 posts a year, or 13 a month, so $19 divided by 13 is about $1.46 a video. Voice cloning is included and there is no watermark.

The limit is that every plan holds one Series, so an account runs one topic at a time. Videos stop at 90 seconds, motion credits are small at 27 a month on Starter, and its FAQ states that you give up the right to a refund when you sign up. A no-cost plan is listed but paused. Split-screen layouts and fake chats are not described.

## 6. Pictory (narration over stock footage)

Pictory is the one tool here whose pages describe the third format. Feed it scripts, articles, slides or page addresses and it assembles videos with licensed Getty Images and Storyblocks footage and AI voices in 29 languages. It also extracts highlights from longer videos, and its REST API has published prices and sits next to an MCP server.

The cheapest plan, Starter, costs $29 monthly or $25 billed annually, and covers 200 video minutes. Dividing $29 by 200 gives $0.145 a finished minute. A 14-day trial covers all premium features, although downloads stop when it ends without a subscription.

The limit is format coverage. Nothing we read describes a Reddit story, fake chat or split-screen format, or any scheduling. Video minutes reset on the first of each month. If you cancel, your projects are deleted from the platform, so download everything beforehand.

## 7. invideo (prompt-led generation)

invideo is a generative editor. You describe a video, models such as Seedance, Sora and Veo produce the footage, and a multitrack timeline lets you adjust it. It supports AI voices, voice cloning, teams of up to 20 seats on Max, and a remote MCP server for editing from Claude and other agents. There is also a no-cost tier whose allowance renews every week.

The lowest tier costs EUR 20 per seat each month, with the same price on annual billing, and gives 400 credits. That tier is limited to the Lite agent and leaves out Seedance. The next tier up, Plus, is listed at EUR 60 on monthly billing and EUR 36 on annual billing. Prices were served in euros, so there is no dollar figure here.

The limit is that none of the four formats is described on the pages we read, so a Reddit or chat channel would be built by hand on the timeline. Credit costs differ per model, invideo reserves the right to change them without notice, and unused credits do not roll over.

## How to choose

Start with the format your channel repeats, then check the unit your plan counts.

- **Fake text chats.** GPT-Video or Crayo. They are the two tools on this page with a chat format shown.
- **Reddit stories over gameplay.** GPT-Video, Crayo or Zebracat. Zebracat caps videos per month, Crayo meters four things separately, and ours counts source minutes.
- **Narration over stock footage.** Pictory.
- **A channel that runs itself.** AutoShorts or Revid. Both post for you. Revid costs more at entry and gives you an API and MCP server, while AutoShorts keeps to one Series per plan.
- **Generated visuals and a timeline.** invideo, if you are happy to build the format yourself.

If your plan is Reddit, chat and split-screen videos, with the posting done by you or your scheduler, make one video in each format with the free access, then look at [the plans](/pricing) before committing for a month. On clips you can then describe changes to the [Editor Assistant](/vibe-editing), and every change can be undone. Other tools in the same field are listed on the [alternatives hub](/alternatives).

## Questions

### Which faceless video maker has fake text message videos built in?

GPT-Video has a page and a tool for fake text message videos, and Crayo lists a template generator for them. On the pages we read, Zebracat, Revid, AutoShorts, Pictory and invideo do not describe a chat format. If your channel is built on chat screens, the shortlist is two tools.

### Do I need a tool that posts for me to run a faceless channel?

Not to start. Revid, AutoShorts and Zebracat publish or schedule, which removes a step once the format works. GPT-Video ends at the exported file on every plan, so you upload the clip yourself or pass it to a scheduler you already use. Posting only matters once you publish daily.

### Which of these tools handles narration over stock footage?

Pictory is the one whose pages describe licensed stock footage with AI voices, built from scripts, articles and URLs. Zebracat, Revid, AutoShorts and invideo generate visuals from a prompt, a script or a link, and we did not confirm stock libraries for all of them. GPT-Video does not list this format.

### Why is the price per video so different between these tools?

Each vendor counts a different thing. Crayo counts workflow credits, Revid spends credits per generation, AutoShorts sells posting frequency, Zebracat caps videos per month, Pictory sells video minutes and invideo sells credits per seat. We only divide a price where the vendor's own unit allows it, and the working is shown above.
