# GPT-Video vs Choppity: a three-position quality selector and 4K export, against a clipper with a scheduler and an API

GPT-Video lets you pick Draft, Standard or Maximum before you spend credits, at half, one and two and a half credits per source minute, and Creator at $49 a month exports in 4K. Choppity has a free plan with one hour of analysis, a social scheduler from $20 a month and a REST API from $32.

## The short answer

Two details of GPT-Video decide this comparison for some buyers. The first is a quality selector with three positions. A minute of source costs 0.5 credits in Draft, 1 in Standard and 2.5 in Maximum, and you choose before the work starts. The second is 4K export, which comes with the Creator plan at $49 a month.

Choppity is a clipper with a different shape. It meters hours of AI analysis, it has a scheduler from its $20 Starter plan, and it has a REST API from its $32 Creator plan. It also has a free plan. The sections below set out where each product is ahead and what a real month costs on both.

## Where GPT-Video is stronger

**You decide how much a pass is worth.** Credits in GPT-Video are tied to minutes of source, and the selector moves the price of each minute. A long backlog can go through Draft at half a credit a minute, so you can find the good episodes without paying the full rate on all of them. The ones you keep can be redone in Maximum at two and a half credits. Choppity's pricing page gives one allowance of analysis hours per plan, and it does not describe a quality choice.

**4K is on a plan you can name.** Creator, $49 a month with 800 credits, exports in 4K and has room for a small team. If a client or a large screen will show the file, the resolution is on the plan page before you pay. On Choppity, Starter lists 1080p export. The pages we read do not state a resolution for its other plans, so we leave that open.

**The meter is minutes, and the sum is easy.** Hours recorded, times 60, give the credits for a Standard pass. Choppity counts hours of AI analysis, and its pricing page does not say whether the allowance resets each month or whether unused analysis expires. Here, each month's credits stay with the month that issued them.

**Each clip comes with a reason, and edits are sentences.** Every pick names the line it starts from and why it ranked, so you can overrule it quickly. The crop holds the speaker's face near the centre of the picture, and a typed request to Editor Assistant changes the clip. The crop is explained under [auto reframe](/features/auto-reframe); the chat has a page too, [vibe editing](/vibe-editing).

## Side by side

## Where Choppity is stronger

- **A free plan.** One hour of AI analysis and 2 GB of storage, with no card. GPT-Video has no plan like it. What a new GPT-Video account gets instead is 50 credits handed out once, and they lapse after 14 days.
- **A scheduler.** It is part of Starter. The scheduler page names YouTube as the direct publishing target for now. The homepage mentions TikTok and Instagram Reels as well, so we call the platform list not confirmed.
- **A REST API.** It takes a link or an upload of up to 5 GB, renders MP4 files and sends webhooks. It is included from Creator at $32.
- **Several speakers.** The reframe can build a split-screen layout, and text-based editing and automatic swear-word bleeping are listed.
- **Entry price on annual billing.** Starter is $14 a month, billed yearly.

On our side there is no publishing, no scheduling and no link import. Footage enters as an uploaded file, and the clip that comes out is yours to publish.

## What a real month costs

Take a podcaster who records 4 hours a month, which is 240 minutes of source. Standard quality charges 240 credits for that, and Starter, at $19, has 250. With annual billing, which charges ten months of the twelve, Starter comes to $190 a year, or $15.83 a month. Put the selector to work and the month uses fewer credits: a Draft pass over all 240 minutes uses 120 credits, and finishing the best 40 minutes in Maximum adds 100. The total is 220 credits, still inside Starter.

On Choppity, Starter holds 3 hours of analysis, which is 180 minutes, so 4 hours does not fit. The next plan is Creator at $32 a month, which lists 5 hours. That is $13 more than Starter on GPT-Video ($32 minus $19). We are assuming the allowance is monthly, because the pricing page does not say. On yearly billing Creator is $22.40 a month, which is $268.80 a year. That is $78.80 more than our Starter year, and Choppity's Creator carries an API, which GPT-Video does not have on any plan.

Now a heavier month in 4K: 10 hours of source, or 600 minutes. GPT-Video needs Creator, $49 for 800 credits, which is about $0.061 a minute with 200 credits left for a second pass in Draft. The two upper Choppity plans list 5 hours each, so 10 hours is twice what its published plans show, and Enterprise is custom. We cannot price that month on Choppity without asking them.

## What you give up by moving

You give up the free plan, the scheduler, the lower API price, uploads of 5 GB through an API and the multi-speaker split-screen reframe. Our REST API with webhooks starts on Creator at $49 a month. Posting becomes a manual step, and you hand the file to whatever scheduler you already use.

What you get is a selector that lets you spend little on a first look and more on the final cut, a 4K file on Creator, and one credit counted in minutes of source. To check it, register and confirm your email. While places last, that unlocks a 14-day window with 50 credits and no card. Send one long recording through, read the reasons beside each pick and change a clip with a sentence. On a paid plan you can then run the backlog in Draft and redo the best clips in Maximum. If 4K matters from the first export, take Creator. All the plans and top-ups are listed on the [price list](/pricing).

## Choose Choppity if

- You want a free plan instead of a start that ends after 14 days. It gives 1 hour of AI analysis and 2 GB of storage, and keeps projects for 3 days.
- You want a social scheduler. It comes with the $20 Starter plan.
- You need a REST API with webhooks, which starts on the $32 Creator plan.
- You cut interviews with several speakers and like a reframe that can build a split-screen layout, plus text-based editing and automatic bleeping of swear words.

## Choose GPT-Video if

- You want to run a cheap look at a backlog and spend full price only on the clips you keep.
- You deliver in 4K and want that written on a named plan, Creator.
- You prefer a credit that counts minutes of source to an allowance counted in hours of analysis.
- You like to change a clip by writing what you want to Editor Assistant, with every change undoable.

## Questions

### Is GPT-Video a good Choppity alternative?

It suits you if you turn long recordings into vertical clips and publish them yourself, and you care about cost control or 4K files. It suits you less if you want the clips scheduled for you or want to call a REST API from your own code.

### What do Draft, Standard and Maximum do on GPT-Video?

They are three positions of a selector that multiply the credits a minute of source costs. Draft is x0.5, Standard is x1 and Maximum is x2.5. A 60-minute recording uses 30, 60 or 150 credits, rounded up per job.

### Which GPT-Video plan gives me 4K files?

The Creator plan, which is $49 a month with 800 credits. Choppity's pricing page lists 1080p export on Starter. We did not find an export resolution for its higher plans, so check that before you buy.

### Can GPT-Video schedule posts or offer an API like Choppity?

No. The work stops at the exported file, with no link to your social accounts. There is programmatic access held back for Creator and Studio and an MCP connector for Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor, described on the MCP page. Choppity has the scheduler and the API.

### Can I test GPT-Video the way Choppity's free plan allows?

In a different form. GPT-Video has no permanent free plan, but a new account that confirms its email receives 50 credits for 14 days, with no card, while places last. That is enough for about 50 minutes of source at Standard. When it runs out, the $19 Starter plan is the lowest paid entry.
